About us.
Waves Enterprise Limited was established as a not-for-profit, community based
organisation in October 2007 to promote the social and economic well-being and
development of the southern part of Liverpool by the promotion and encouragement
of enterprise by any appropriate means.
In 2005 BusinessLiverpool, the private sector-led organisation offering a unique
one stop shop for business and investment in Liverpool, introduced Dr Ernesto
Sirolli to members of the South Liverpool Business Leaders group.
In 1985 Ernesto had pioneered in Esperance, a small rural community in Western
Australia, a unique economic development approach based on harnessing the
passion, determination, intelligence, and resourcefulness of the local people. The
striking results of "The Esperance Experience" have prompted more than 250
communities around the world to adopt responsive, person-centred approaches to
local economic development similar to the 'Enterprise Facilitation®' model pioneered in Esperance.
Following the Dr Sirolli's visit in 2005, BusinessLiverpool secured support from Liverpool City Council's Neighbourhood Renewal Fund to
help establish three organisations, Dream High in East Liverpool, Enable in North Liverpool and Ripples on the Mersey in Central
Liverpool. These organisations were formed to operate on the principles established by the Sirolli Institute.
In 2006 a Steering Committee was formed to establish a similar organisation in South Liverpool and the name Waves Enterprise was
chosen as it reflects the Mersey Wave sculpture which is situated at the main southern entrance to Liverpool. Waves Enterprise was due to
commence operations in South Liverpool late in 2008 but in April 2008 joined forces with Ripples on the Mersey to form a larger
organisation (retaining the name Waves Enterprise) and it is now established as a community-based organisation that works in concert
with existing economic development efforts to assist entrepreneurs throughout Central and South Liverpool. We hope that our
organisation will serve as a further catalyst for the renewed community pride and civic spirit that can already be seen across South
Liverpool through the regeneration programmes that have been delivered over the last 10 years.
As a result of Waves Enterprise merging with Ripples on the Mersey, we now have the benefit of the vast knowledge and experience of
Enterprise Facilitator, Debbie Elliott-Brown, who will be responsible for facilitating the establishment and development of individual
enterprises by becoming a mentor and advocate to anyone in Central or South Liverpool with a new business idea or an existing business
wishing to further develop.
Debbie will be supported by our Panel, made up of individuals who live, work and do business in the Central and South Liverpool areas of
Liverpool, and who have volunteered to provide their own time, skills, expertise and contacts to help build a sustainable resource, to
ensure our community is an exciting and vibrant place to live, work and start your own business.
Debbie will work in the heart of the communities of Central and South Liverpool, not hidden away in an office, to ensure that she is as accessible as possible to those requiring support. Our services are completely confidential and completely free of charge, to anybody
living in or wishing to start or develop a business in the Liverpool Central or South Liverpool areas.
Debbie can be contacted on 07776 188 279 or via e-mail here.
