About Us
Waves was established as a not-for-profit, community based organisation in October 2007 to promote the social and economic well-being and development of Central & South Liverpool by the promotion and encouragement of enterprise by a person centred approach to community and economic development - Business Facilitation.
Business Facilitation is a method of providing free confidential business support to individuals with a business idea and existing businesses looking to progress and expand.
Our Business Facilitator, Debbie Elliott-Brown, works with both budding entrepreneurs and established businesses to identify obstacles that may be stifling their progress in terms of setting up a new business or growing an existing one. Debbie, working with a Panel of around 70 people, will endeavour to find the necessary information and resources to enable the business to progress.
The Waves panel is made up from volunteers who give their time freely at monthly Panel meetings. The Panel members have varied backgrounds and may include local business people, community support agencies, community representatives and, most importantly, local residents. It is the local knowledge that is pivotal to the success of Waves.
All support and advice from the Panel is given free of charge and this enables budding entrepreneurs to access the volunteers skills and experience. Another important benefit of consulting with waves is that introductions can be made to other entrepreneurs, businesses and business networks which a budding entrepreneur may otherwise find difficult to access.
A brief outline of the operation of Waves and Business Facilitation:
- Waves is managed by a Panel of volunteers who between them have a vast local knowledge, varied skills and business experience.
- Waves employs and supports a full-time Business Facilitator.
- The Business Facilitator provides intensive assistance and links clients to the skills and knowledge of the Panel. In some cases the Business Facilitator will link the client to other individuals, businesses or organisations who may be able to help.
- Business Facilitation tests the personal motivation & skills of the client, developing in the client their capacity to assess their own management strengths and weaknesses.
- The Business Facilitation service is available free of charge, and in confidence to anyone starting or expanding a business in Central & South Liverpool.
Waves provides free confidential business coaching and networking advice to aspiring entrepreneurs and existing businesses.
